Do I have to be an athlete to receive services at your clinic?

No. While we specialize in rehabbing athletes and sports-related injuries, we welcome patients of all ages and backgrounds. Our staff is trained to treat patients with various orthopedic injuries and conditions.

Do I need a referral or prescription from my doctor to see a physical therapist?

No. North Carolina is a direct access state, and you can see a physical therapist prior to going to the doctor. If need be, your therapist can refer you to a doctor for further testing and evaluation based on the physical therapy evaluation. Some insurance companies do require a referral prior to seeing a PT, so feel free to contact us or your provider.

Do I have choice in my physical therapy provider?

Yes. Patients always have the freedom to choose their physical therapy provider even if the MD provided a specific referral.

Does insurance cover the costs associated with physical therapy?

Most physical therapy treatments are covered by health insurance. We are in network with many providers, including BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, UHC, UMR and Medcost, however, your individual health insurance plan and benefits may vary. We will assist you in determining the amount of insurance coverage available as well as projecting the estimated cost and total number visits needed for your treatment plan.

What should I expect during my initial visit?

Your physical therapist will provide a comprehensive initial evaluation, discuss your diagnosis and prognosis and outline the treatment plan. In addition, treatment will begin the same day and the therapist will provide a home program to get you started on the road to recovery right away.

How long will my therapy appointments last?

In most cases, your first appointment will last 60 minutes. Subsequent treatment time will be be based upon the therapist’s discretion with the full commitment to providing the optimal care for your condition and goals. Unlike some clinics, we do not predetermine the treatment times. This allows us to deliver superior care and achieve higher levels of recovery and performance more efficiently.

What do I need to bring for my first appointment?

Please remember to bring your doctor’s prescription (if applicable), your insurance card, a valid photo I.D., and completed paperwork. You should wear comfortable clothing or bring clothes to change into, so your therapist can assess the affected area and you can move and exercise freely.
